Teaching

In my teaching, I aim to help students develop strong problem-solving skills and a lifelong appreciation of the excitement of statistics and mathematics through individual and group problem-solving and hands-on experience with real data. To read more about my teaching philosophy, please see the attachment below.

I have developed my teaching skills through extensive experience as an instructor and teaching assistant for courses in Statistics, Biostatistics, Probability, Mathematical Modeling, Calculus, and Math Modeling in Genetics.  You can see examples of my work by following those links.  I would be happy to have you use these materials in a course of your own; if you do, please let me know!  My email address is brisbia <at> uwec <dot> edu.

Teaching is a process of lifelong learning and discovery.  In the future, I would like to incorporate more elements of inquiry-based learning and service learning in my courses, as I believe these practices would help me further engage students with guided understanding of complex problems from the real world.
