Each match consists of 8 rounds, each containing 4 pairs of questions. The away team goes first for all eight rounds.
If a team answers their question correctly, they score 2 points. If they fail to answer it correctly, the questions is passed over to the other team, who can score 1 point for a correct answer.
Rounds 3 and 7 are individual rounds. Each question is directed to a nominated individual, and all players must participate. No conferring unless the individual informs the questionmaster that they wish to do so. Iif this is done then a correct answer only gets 1 point. To clarify: 2 points if the individual answers, 1 point if they open it to the team, and 1 point for passovers.
Time for answering questions. 1 minute 30 seconds for the first team or individual and 30 seconds for passovers.
Once the main match is over, the teams play a ‘beer round’ of 8 pairs of questions. As the name suggests, the losers of the beer round buy the winners a drink (beer is not compulsory).
In the league table, a win scores 2 points, a draw 1 point. At the end of the season the team with the highest number of points is the winner. If there is a draw then the total numbers of correct answers are used to decide the winner.
