Proposed by Brian Butt, Crown (Pantygelli) B. That we commence games at 7:30. "I have been at this game a long time and I am wondering based upon the numbers in the bar on a Sunday evening if we should consider moving the starting time to 7:30."
Proposed by Mike Lane, Tafarn Y Bont. That that we do not swap over by going first to second at the halfway point. "It seems to me that the question setter sets the quiz out as if whoever starts first stays first throughout the quiz. I have noticed that one of the teams will get 2 questions on a subject (one in each half) and the other team won`t get any questions on that subject, because we have swapped over at half way. Why do we swap at half time anyway? I've been playing in the Abergavenny Quiz League since it started in about 1984 and I can`t remember why we decided to swap over at half way.
Proposed start 16 October, Christmas Quiz 11 December, Restart 8 January.
Prior to the official meeting a minute’s silence was observed in the memory of two of our regular players, Ceri Clark (old Kings’ Arms) and Kathryn Pogson (old Temple Bar), who have passed away since the end of the 2019 season.

Covid Measures:The next piece has been provided by Matthew Engel, following a lively discussion about Covid-19 testing which Nick Smith brought up because of the health of some of his team or close contacts.
ABERGAVENNY QUIZ LEAGUE: COVID PROTOCOLS 2021-22
Since teams huddle close to each other but normally maintain social distance from their opponents, the greatest Covid risk for quiz participants is from within their own team.
It is the captain’s responsibility to ensure to the best of their ability that all their players and QM are fully vaccinated (double-jabbed at present, with booster later in the season). Those who do not meet this requirement must not take part unless they take a lateral flow test less than 24 hours before the game and satisfy the captain that this was negative.
Station A has a special dispensation to ask all opponents to take lateral flow tests before the game to protect their vulnerable team members. It is Station A’s responsibility to remind opposing teams of this in good time.
Matthew has copied this to a medical team member for confirmation.
Meeting closed at 8:41p.m
