Technology for Regular Folks
"Free Tech Notes and Information"
This is a place where I share Tech Info with folks.
DISCLAIMER
If you break it, you bought it.
Don't come crying to me
if something you try here
goofs up your system or data.
If you are not sure of what you are doing and do NOT like taking chances (and also do not have the time to fix what you break) , suck it up and pony up some cash for a competent technician.
TIP:
You will be hard-pressed to find a good tech at a big-box store. I always suggest a local, independent shop. Do your homework and check them out first.

The information here is mostly very basic stuff... and for now, is mostly related to the Microsoft Windows OS (MSW-OS)... but I'm a BIG fan of Linux (and there is some MAC OS stuff too).
Some of what you see here is specific to one particular task... but there are a lot of general references too.
Your best bet is to learn to use the Help Documentation for whatever process you are using. Or to search stuff on sites like Google.
"I can't remember a life before Google,
but fortunately,
I can Google it."
There is more truth to that than is first realized. The important learning curve is in knowing how to find the right keywords to search on. More often than not however, what you need will be right in front of you... you just need to relax and be open to it.
Without a doubt, the biggest problem I see with folks who are unfamiliar with Computer Interfaces is "Navigation". That is: How to get to where you want to go from where you are now... and sometimes it is even more important to know how to get back to where you were, from where you are now. There are a lot of similarities on how to navigate a computer system. The sooner you can recognize those similarities, the sooner you will be Navigating your system with confidence.
For some general Quick Tips and References... see this accompanying blog:

I really enjoy doing this sort of stuff... but since it is very time consuming, I usually just fire-off what I need at the time and leave it at that. Where you get tripped up, as a beginner user, is changes in the version of the Operating System (OS), or Program Application (App). Step by step instructions can vary slightly from one version of an OS or App to another. Yes, this can be frustrating, but that is the way it is. If you are patient, and a bit clever, it is usually pretty easy to adapt process instructions from one version to another. Another option is to look up what you want to do (if you can) for the particular OS and/or App version being used.
Anyway... I hope this site helps... that is why I created it.
As always... Be Well... and Have Fun!

Computers and the Internet are here to stay, and they really can be fun... if you relax, and open yourself up to it.
Hummmmmmm...
Try to not get "boxed in" by narrow thinking.
Once you understand the general idea of an operation, it is very easy to adapt to unfamiliar choices in a similar operation. Similar operations effectively do the same thing, it just may be that they are identified differently from one Software or Hardware Developer to another.
Look for the similarities in the things you do everyday on a computer. Once you learn to recognize the similarities, your "learning curve" is going to flatten dramatically.
Try to learn the Concepts first... and focus on the Steps less.
