Here are a few quick tips on using Google Photos:
If you receive a link, all you need to do is click on it to see the album.
By default, images are in chronological order, first to last, unless the album has been edited.
These are PC instructions... a "Handheld Device" (tablet or phone) will be similar, but different.

Viewing & Navigation
When you first look at the album you will see a series of images.
Left-Click on any image to start the Viewing Process.
When you hover over the left or right edge of the image... an arrow will appear.
Left-Click on the arrow to go to the next or previous image.
You can also left-click anywhere on the image, as soon as you see the arrow.
The Left & Right arrow keys on the keyboard will do the same.
Leaving the Image View
The arrow in the Upper-Left corner of the image takes you back to the Album View.
Like and Comment
Lower Right corner...
The Heart icon allows you to "Like" the image.
The Text Balloon icon allows you to comment
EVERYONE who can see the album will see your comments.
See the Image Menu
Wiggle your mouse cursor over the image.
In the upper right of the image a menu will appear.

More Options (the 3 stacked dots)
Slideshow
Rotate (Shift+R)
Download (Shift+D)
Add to Album ... Shared Album
Order Canvas & Photo Prints

Activate the Image Menu.
Left-Click on the Magnifying Glass icon.
Use the slider to zoom In/Out
Left-Click on the Magnifying Glass icon again to set the image back to (best fit) view.
You NEED to do this before you can navigate again.
Left-Click & Drag to "Pan" around in the image.
Image "Info" ... See the GPS Map ... Date
The Info Panel allows you (the owner) to add a comment or description to the Image.
(Not all images will have a GPS / Map note. It depends on the settings of the device capturing the image.)
Activate the Image Menu.
Left-Click on the white "i" in the white circle.
An "Image Info" panel will appear on the right.
At the bottom will be a map.
Click on the map to see the GPS data, and more.
Download
Activate the Image Menu.
Left-Click on the "More Options" (the 3 stacked dots) menu item.
Left-Click on "Download"
If the image had GPS data, and notes, (etc.)... If you upload it back to your own G-Photos album... or something similar... you should still see them.
