Leeds to cut carbon by 40% by 2020

Leeds City Council have committed to reduce the carbon dioxide emissions of the city by 40% by 2020. Last year the council pledged to reduce the emissions from its own buildings by this amount, but in January 2010 the council committed to reduce the emissions of the whole city in response to pressure from voters:
