STUDENT ACTIVITIES

ADJUDICATIONS

There shall be Adjudication Chairmen for Richland Piano, Kennewick/Pasco Piano, Voice, Strings, and any additional instruments as fits the membership. The Adjudication Chairmen shall secure Adjudicators two years in advance. Following instructions as received from the WSMTA Adjudication Chairman, these chairmen shall make all necessary physical arrangements for the adjudications.

MUSIC FEST

The Music Fest Committee shall make all arrangements for the annual Ribbon Festival and Sonatina/ Sonata Festival. This includes but is not limited to: securing a facility in January for the following November; preparing the Sonatina / Sonata repertoire list for publication in the April newsletter; updating ear training and theory tests as needed; preparing the teacher packets for distribution at the September meeting; and numerous other tasks listed in the Music Fest records.

SCHOLARSHIP

The Scholarship Committee shall make all necessary physical arrangements for the Chapter scholarships. The recipients of the Eleanor Haney Keyboard Scholarship and the Bessie Shephard Non-Keyboard Scholarship, both college scholarships, are selected at the May or April Chapter meeting. The Eleanor Haney Keyboard Scholarship is funded from Music Fest profits and one-third (1/3) of the Chapter dues. The Bessie Shephard Non-Keyboard Scholarship is funded by a private donor. The high school summer music camp scholarship recipient(s) is selected at the April Chapter Student Recital. This scholarship is funded by Music Fest profits as available.

STUDENT RECITALS

The Chapter’s Student Recitals Committee shall determine dates and locations for the student recitals including the Honors Recitals (the number to be determined by the Executive Board); shall give this information to the President for inclusion in the Year Book Calendar of Events; and shall make all necessary physical arrangements for the recitals.

TRI-CITY SPRING AWARDS COMPETITION

The Tri-City Spring Awards Competition has a two-fold purpose: it is the venue for choosing the Chapter’s State Piano Recitalists, and it awards first, second, and third place plus honorable mentions to piano students in four divisions based on academic school years. This committee shall make all necessary physical arrangements for this competition.
