The first is about describing what data is going to be used and where this has come from. i.e
describe the variables in the data that are used in the investigation and how they are measured.
describe what is 'normal' for these variables in the populations in question.
state which variable is independent and which is dependent.
state where the data has come from. ie:
who collected it.
how was it collected.
why was it collected.
how confident are you that the data is accurate?
i.e
Does the source have a reputable reputation?
In this part of the investigation you are reporting what you see in the data (scatterplot) before you perform any kind of analysis.
We are looking to see which model to use for the data we have.
We do this to ensure that any predictions we make are going to be accurate.
We use the term 'eyeballing' to describe this process.
Your statements are unlikely to have any numerical values but will have terms like, strong/moderate/weak, positive/negative, uniform/non-uniform, etc
Describe the following features of your scatter plot.
