Use a "band" to help describe the observed strength of the relationship.
The band needs to cover most of the points in your scatterplot
(aim for 90% of all your points - as a guide)
The narrower the band, the stronger the relationship.
Examples:
Most of the points in the scatterplot lie in a band that is very narrow. This means that the relationship is quite strong.
Most of the points in the scatterplot lie in a band that is moderately wide. This means that the relationship is moderately strong.
