Certification within the CIP Program is managed via the NACE Institute. Certified personnel will be contacted some weeks ahead of the renewal date with a reminder. To ensure this happens, log on to your NACE profile at www.nace.org and ensure that address details and email address are correct and up-to-date. To log in to your profile, you'll need your 'web ID' and your password. If you'never changed these, they are likely to be Web ID = NACE membership number (not certification number) and Password is the same (NACE membership number). If this doesn't work, please contact firstservice@nace.org for help.
There will be an application to fill out, and a certification fee to pay.
Renewal depends on experience during the previous certification period, and details of this are provided when the renewal papers are completed and submitted. Some credit is given for 'Professional Development' during the period.
Professional Development
● Professional Development refers to educational activities that include, but are not limited to, attending corrosion related courses, seminars, meetings, technical papers, webinars or presentations. The system is based on points awarded for continued professional development, for example:
● Successful completion of coatings/corrosion educational courses (NACE courses as well as other industry courses)
● Attendance at coatings industry conferences and seminars
● Publication of technical papers or articles
● Attendance at other coatings industry-relevant events
PD Hours are also awarded on a module by module basis for NACE online learning
NACE publishes a Training and Certification Guide with more information, available to download on www.nace.org.
