Tom Farraro killed a 7 pointer in Ogden, NY. Tom and I didn't hunt together that morning but we hooked up at a restaurant for lunch. Tom picked up the lunch tab and we went into the woods. I told Tom since he bought lunch he would be the one to get a buck. Tom called me at about 4pm and said I think I just smoked a buck. The buck stopped on the path and tom hit the can call. The buck came Tommy's way and he fired. Tom said all I saw in the scope was blood. He told me the buck ran toward the culvert but never made it out the other side. I said I'm on my way. I followed the culvert on my way to Tom and found the buck dead in the culvert. Tom mad a great 30 yard shot and hit him in the heart. The rage broad head literally tore the heart in 1/2. We followed the blood trail back and the leaves were soaked in blood, 18" wide for the whole path. he only went about 40 yards. I was thrilled to be there. That is why we love this time of year! At 1:05pm a young 6 point stepped out into the food plot and he saw movement behind the 6 point. Dan realized it was another shooter and waited for him to enter the field. When he lined up on the buck he was at 40 yards. Dan took a little extra time and picked a small spot on fired his crossbow. The big buck ran 30 yards and piled up. This buck measures 121.5" Awesome buck and Dan couldn't be happier. Nice work Dan!

John Lupo shot a nice 8 pointer form his pop up blind. Here is John's story..........
"A commitment to myself….
I was against the odds on this day. I had some work issues to deal with in the morning/afternoon which prevented me from getting into the wood’s early morning. The weather was high of 55 and 30mph wind gusts. It seemed like everything was preventing from going out on this day. Even my hunting apps gave this day a 1star (low chance) but I made a commitment to myself to hunt hard on my PTO days.
I walked into the woods at a “stalking pace” at about 2:30pm. I am about 25yards away from a community game trail, this is where my blind is setup. As I settle in, I notice the silence, no birds are chirping, no squirrels are running around just the noise from the dancing treetops with the howling wind.
I look out the mesh window to my right. I was shocked and did a triple take when I laid my eyes on a buck only 15ft from my blind. This was buck was on a path to cross right in front of me. I made the commitment to harvest this deer. At this point everything seemed to slow down. I pick up my bow, I pull back 82lbs (which seemed like 20lbs), I “grip in”, anchor my index knuckle behind my jaw and go through my “anchor routine”….. I feel confident and breath.
At this point I can’t see the buck. I am looking out the front shooting window pulled back and ready.
As the buck walks into view. I see nose then eyes and neck. I can honestly say I don’t even notice the rack, I already made the commitment to harvest this deer. The buck puts its head down to grab a bite to eat I hear the grass tear. The buck lifts its head and takes one more step providing me with a clear shot. I settle my first pin into the vitals. I caress the trigger with my index finger and apply the pressure needed. I see my arrow fly entering the buck with a complete pass through, heart shot and blown-out shoulder.
The buck stumbles, frightened and trots limping away. I blow lightly a couple times into the grunt call I have placed into the side of my mouth. The buck looks back, stops and limps off. Then looks back one more time before laying down to his death bed, peacefully.
The buck was no more than 15ft way when I shot and died within 30yards. At 4:34pm I made my first phone call to my best friend."
The buck measures 116.2" . Nice work John and awesome shot placement.

Since his phone was dead he had to wait until his buddy Kurt came out of the stand and they started following a nice blood trail. There were bubbles in the blood and she didn't do far. September 2019
Mike Leach's "Newfoundland Trifecta" Here is the story of Mike's September 2019 hunt in his words.
Moose September 2016, Caribou September 2018, 2 bear and a coyote September 2019!
Went to Newfoundland on Sunday the 15th to hunt black bear with 2 other friends they were hunting moose Wes and Ed. Took a 6 hour rough Argo ride to a rustic fly in camp but has generator shower wood stove and camp cook. It's a open country spot and stalk hunt. We started off on Argos Monday morning about a mile from camp spotted a 6 point bull moose and Wes decided to take a 300 yard shot and got the animal. We drove Argos to the bull then proceeded to quarter animal take back to camp and hunt for another bull on the way.
We were at camp with other hunters from Michigan Ron (83 years old) and his son in law John. Tuesday morning we stepped out of camp to hunting and a 4 point bull was standing there. Ed loaded his gun and gave it to the 83 year old but he didn't want to shoot so Ed decided to take a 30 yard shot and got the animal before he took off. This was a easier quartering process since it was at camp and the plane was coming for Wes moose at noon so we sent both.
Later that afternoon we headed out to catch up with the other hunters to help spot moose and we spotted a black bear 1000 yards away drove the Argos closer did a 400 yard stalk and I got the bear at 100 yards browsing on blue berries. You get 2 bears on one license so for the next several days we hunted with the other hunters for there moose and spotted for bear. They had some unsuccessful stalks on 3 big bulls but did get a cow moose on either sex tag.
Other hunters at camp were leaving on Friday the 20th to catch ferry home so we decided to hunt with them on the way down to help out if the got a moose. We spotted 2 big bears up on a ridge browsing on berries again at 400 yards. We decided to move in closer as they would lay down eat browse out of sight. We had radio communication with the other guide as he watched as we stalked. They could see them but we couldn't so we kept climbing right to the top with me in lead crested the top and there he was broad side 50 yards. I shot and he took off running as we chased behind to see where he was going. We were out of breathe as we looked down he was swimming across a little pond and shot again as he walked out at 100 yards. In which he fell down into a 6' bushy ditch. We attempted to get him out but couldn't so we cut branches, gutted and took some pics. Made a Argo trail up there winched out and into Argo proceeded to head down to butcher with other moose hunters they had another shot with a big moose but were unsuccessful again. Headed back to camp after unloading bear 5 hour back in shot a coyote on way, ate supper and had some celebration drinks. We left camp Saturday morning to pick our meat from butcher and catch ferry for home. Awesome experience with friends and affordable I completed my Newfoundland trifecta. Moose caribou bear.
