They love this part of the hill, this is the same stand I killed a doe out of earlier in the season. He said the buck stood in the same spot as the doe did when I shot her. Our buddy Kevin Gleber also got a big doe on Saturday. The weekend sounded like a lot of fun and I am sorry we missed it. Nice Work Mark!
Saturday 11/26/16 Brad Gravino killed a nice big doe in Mendon. Brad was in his stand and he could hear a home owner open the garage door and talk. That was enough to push some deer out of the thick stuff and right to Brad. The doe wanted to cross right near brads stand and realized he was there. She was about to take off when brad fired, he hit her in the heat, she did not go far. This was deer number 6 for Brad this year. Great season so far!
Friday 11/25/16 Brad Gravino killed a nice buck in Macedon behind his house. He was in his back yard with his dog and saw a doe in his yard. His dog Rugger was barking at the deer so he grabbed Rugger and put him in the house and grabbed his bow. He came back outside and got into position to shoot the doe then he saw this buck following behind her. He took aim and made a 30 yard shot. Ther deer ran up the hill behind the house and stood there bleeding. A different buck came in and they started snorting at each other and ran off chasing each other. He followed the blood trail and recovered his buck. The buck must of been hit by a car, it's leg was damaged and had a big knot in it. t also had road rash and eye and ear injuries. Some of the meat could not be saved. Cool Story Brad!
Friday 11/25/16 Joe Shiner killed a button buck "thought it was a doe" Joe, Tom Farraro and I went into a spot near Brockport, First thing in the morning Tom texted out $5 for the first deer killed. I said I was in and Joe jumped in too. About a 1/2 hour later Joe shot. He texted that he missed and Tom and I were happy to keep our $5. About 9am Joe fired again, this time he texted out "5 bucks bitches". Then Joe said it was small and he hoped it wasn't a button buck. I was hoping it was so I could bust his chops. He rode my ass for weeks after I shot a button buck earlier in the year. Like his Dad Mark Shiner said it was the best $5 I ever spent. He is right, I am getting my payback. Check out the picture below, It is Joe with the deer, the money from Tom and I and his Killer Buck Face. Tom posed with his Killer Buck Face with Joe's deer and his face cracked us up, see the pic. We have been busting Tom's chops about the face ever since.
I have had more fun this year busting the chops with everyone. I love this time of year! I can believe there is only a few weeks left. Congrats Joe on your trophy button buck.
My son David and I were butchering the deer and David saved one of the antlers for Joe's Wall. This deer measures .33" and is not in the lead in our contest. Ha Ha!!
Wednesday 11/23/16 Steve Ames Jr. Shot an incredible buck they all "the General". Earlier in the morning Steve had "the General" at 75 yards. He pulled the trigger and the buck did not go down. Steve checked the spot where he stood and it was clear he missed. The only this he can figure is the bullet deflects. Steve was sick about it. He went to breakfast and talked to his Dad. The buck had been caught in the daylight on the cameras in that area. They decided Steve should not leave the area so he went back in there. This time he went to the shooting house. Steve watched several does in the field. something got them moving and they ran to the food plot on the other side of Steve. Steve watched a 110" buck step into the cut pipeline lane. While he was watching the smaller buck through his scope "the General" stepped into his scope. Steve took his eye away from the scope and confirmed it was "the General", the buck Steve was after. He could not believe he might get a second chance at the Buck. He adjusted himself int he shooting house and the metal chair creaked. "The General's ears perked up and Steve figured this would be his only shot. Steve aimed for the center of the neck and squeezed the trigger. The bulled hit its mark and the buck dropped where it stood. Steve went form the lowest of lowest to the highest of highs. Steve has spent a ton of time afield in NY and Ohio and it has paid off again. Steve killed the biggest buck of his life to date.
This buck was shot by someone on a neighboring property in mid October. The would was superficial, it did not enter the rig cage, check out the trail cam pic they got while he was making a scrape.

Joe made a difficult shot through a small window in the brush. The deer was quartering away and Joe let the bolt fly. The bolt exited the buck's chest and blood was pouring out everywhere. The buck only ran about 60 yards wobbled and dropped. Joe has worked hard this year like many of us and it has payed off with 3 does and this trophy buck so far. This buck measures 139". Sunday 10/9/16 Dave D'Ettorre (me) Killed a nice big doe in Cuba, NY. We dropped David off at a stand and my cousin Mark and I went to our stands. As I got in my stand Mark texted me a said deer were headed my way. At about 7:35 I saw 2 feeding passed me. I picked the bigger one and hit her good. About an hour later David and Mark met me at my stand and we started tracking her. She did not bleed good for the first 80 yards then the trail got easier to follow. we found he about 40 years later. The arrow exited the guts and plugged the hole a bit. So my son and I doubled up this weekend and they were both good size. We had a great weekend with Mark and cant wait to hunt with him again.
Saturday 10/8/16 David J. D'Ettorre killed a nice big doe with my .270 rifle on opening day of the special youth firearms season in Cuba N.Y. My cousin Mark Shiner had been looking forward to this weekend all year. He spent the day in the woods with David and they saw some but could not get any shots until late afternoon. They moved out of the woods and down to the open fields. There were several in the fields. One big doe got within about 100 yards and David lined up the gun and fired. She stood there for a second or two then dropped dead in her tracks. He hit her perfectly. Mark loved watching him take that deer. I came out of a tree stand and joined them at the deer.
