History

The 10th IEEE International Conference on Video and Signal-Based Surveillance in Kraków, Poland in 2013 follows previous successful editions of the conference that started in 1998 in Genoa, Italy. This very first meeting was organized by Carlo Regazzoni and his colleagues, and was attended primarily by video analytics researchers from across Europe. The second meeting took place in Kingston, UK in 2001 and was organized by Carlo Regazzoni and Graeme Jones.

Starting in 2003, the conference gained IEEE sponsorship and became known as the IEEE International Conference on Video and Signal-Based Surveillance (AVSS).
