The MicroPi will automatically create .ZIP archives of multiple files. When hovering over files or directories, a checkbox appears in the upper left of the icon. (see #2 left) Clicking on this box includes the file or directory in the archive and changes its background to blue to indicate selection (See #1 left). Clicking on the download icon (#3), will cause a ZIP archive file to be created and downloaded to the requesting device.
The archive will be named after the containing directory, in this case, "video.zip".
Video files are represented in the directory view by thumbnail images of a representative frame of the video. The size of the thumbnails can be controlled with the sizing slider (#7 above). The thumbnail creation operation is initiated by viewing the directories. It takes significant time to create them, and the MicroPi may appear unresponsive during this time. However, the thumbnail images are cached, and will display rapidly on subsequent visits.
After loading many video files, visit the directories with a web browser before deploying the device and allow time for thumbnails to be generated so users don't get discouraged waiting for the content to appear.
Upon clicking on an audio or video icon, a preview of the file will be offered. The file may be streamed directly without downloading if desired. Click on the play icon to play, or on the download icon (red circled icon at lower right in image at left) at the lower right to download the file into the viewing device.
PDF files are represented in the view directories by thumbnail images. PDF files are shown by an image of the first page of the document. The thumbnails are automatically generated, but this operation takes significant time, and the MicroPi can appear unresponsive while this occurs. However this delay only occurs during the very first visit after loading. The images are cached on the MicroPi and will display rapidly on subsequent visits.
