Reading: Please do everyday!

Read a chosen book independently or with someone else for at least 20 minutes per day. Here are a few websites to have access to leveled readers or listen to stories online. Contact your teachers for more information.

While reading independently, think about these questions when reading and respond orally or on paper (Teachers have copies of these which can be emailed):

Fiction: (Choose 3 to answer after you read)

What is the title of the story?
Who is the author/illustrator?
Who are the main characters?
Where is the setting? (where does the story take place?
What happens in the story? (beginning, middle, end or first, next, then, last)
What was your favorite part of the story and why? Draw a picture if you choose.
Does this story remind you of anything? It can be about yourself, someone you know or another book you've read.
Draw a picture of something that happened in the story and write about your illustration.

Nonfiction: (Choose 1 to answer after you read)

What is the main topic and 3 key details from the text?
Does this remind you of anything? It can be about yourself, someone else, a similar event or idea you’ve had
Why do you think the author wrote this text? Give reasons from the text.
