SCPS Writing Spirals
In the 2022-2023 school year, English 8 courses will use writing spirals to review previously-taught skills. Spirals alternate focus on the following areas. Assessments connect texts from the core curriculum to writing standards to reinforce decisions authors make in their craft.

First Semester Schedule:
Quarter One: Review 7th Grade Q4 Writing Standards
Quarter Two: Review 8th Grade Q1 Writing Standards
A Month at a Glance:
Spirals should take no more than 10-15 minutes of instruction daily.
