Interested in hosting a talented University of Sheffield student for an internship or project with a focus on place and/or placemaking?
Think your organisation/business could benefit from the skills, ideas and fresh perspectives of a student from a diverse background?
Want to work with a student but need some project funding to help support that activity within your small/grassroots organisation?
If the answer is yes, then Transforming and Activating Places (TAP) may be what you're looking for!
TAP is a student knowledge exchange internship scheme. The student/s will join you for a 35 or 100 hour internship on a place-focused project/activity defined by you and will receive a bursary commensurate with National Minimum Wage from the university for that work. We will match the student with your organisation based on their fit with the skills, experience and approaches you require.
We provide full support to you before and during the internship to ensure the internship brings value and meets your objectives. You are also warmly invited to take advantage of optional networking opportunities with a knowledge sharing community of organisations and businesses, researchers, students and other professionals who are committed to collaborative, cross-sector placemaking.
What does it involve?
A commitment to host an undergraduate student for either a 100 hour or 35 hour internship, worked full or part time between mid June and the end of August 2023
A commitment to providing an internship opportunity or creating a project with a focus on place/placemaking that you will work on with a student/s
How will my organisation/business benefit?
TAP partners receive:
A paid undergraduate student from a diverse background who is eager to gain valuable experience
Full support before and during the internship to ensure the internship brings value
An opportunity to diversify their workforce and welcome fresh perspectives
Optional networking opportunities with a knowledge sharing community of organisations and businesses, researchers, students and other professionals who are committed to collaborative, cross-sector placemaking
The opportunity to apply for a project grant of up to 2k (for grassroots or community organisations who would otherwise be excluded from taking part)
How do I apply?
Please make your expression of interest here as soon as possible and by Friday 10th March 2023 (extended deadline). There is an option on the form to apply for project funding.
After the 10th March, there will be a rolling deadline until all internships/projects are agreed. We will be in touch as soon as possible to let you know the outcome of your application.
