8th Grade Band

8th Grade Band classes are designed to continue the basic performance techniques and develop fundamental playing skills that enable students to continue their music education in a full band group setting, while also preparing them for high school literature. The 8th Grade Advanced Band is directed by Mr. Anderson with assistance by Ms. Riesenberg and Mr. Hall.

• The band directors work very hard to make music an enjoyable, meaningful, and rewarding experience for the students, but also hold the ensembles to high standards of performance.

• Classes meet during the school day, every day, for the entire year. We are very fortunate to have this schedule here at Shawnee Middle School!

• In addition to class time, students are expected to practice about 20 minutes a day for 5 days a week. 8th graders also have three evening performances during the school year along with participating in the District OSSAA contest in March.
