This branch of StuCo includes events and activities whose main purpose is to celebrate, unify, and show pride in our school and our community. These events help boost morale, encourage us to cheer for each other, and work to support the amazing team-building work we do through programs like our Advisory and Peer Leader lessons. Thanks to all those in the SMS community who participated in our first Spirit Week of the year! We saw lots of matching outfits on Matching Monday, wacky hats and hairdo's on What's On Your Head? Day, Sharon gear and lots of red, yellow, gold, and maroon on Sharon Pride Day, comfy PJ's, slippers, and even plushies on Pajama Day, and some truly creative costumes on Halloween! On Friday, October 31st, StuCo presented our Fall Festival in the cafeteria after school. With well over 100 students attending, the event was a huge success! Students enjoyed creative competitions including a Drawing Contest, Make-A-Mummy, and a Pumpkin Decorating Contest. We also had mini games including Witch Hat Ring Toss and Cauldron Toss, and we even had the classic Guess the Candy in the Jar! Lastly, we held a Costume Contest with over fifty participants who walked our "runway". We had seven finalists/winners who entered a drawing for amazing prizes, which included Halloween-themed Funko Pops, a wireless bluetooth speaker, wireless earbuds, smart LED light bars, and an Apple Watch! Over 200 students from our 6th grade class enjoyed an amazing night of entertainment and fun on the first Friday in June. An MC and DJ from Siagel Productions had students competing in dance games and competitions, while One Up Games had the cafeteria packed with gaming stations and mini golf participants. And the game room saw many students hanging out and playing their favorite board and card games. It was a memorable and fun way to celebrate our year!
On Friday, May 23rd, members of the 7th and 8th grade enjoyed an evening of dancing and games to celebrate their hard work this school year. One Up Games provided video gaming stations and a 9-hole mini golf course. Siagel Productions provided a live DJ for dancing, there was a game room for board and card games, popcorn, snacks, and lots of memories!
Thanks to all those who purchased items at our spring Restock & Trinket sale! Over the course of the entire school year, we were able to raise over $600 to help us pay for amazing events for the SMS community!
Our annual Game Show assemblies were once again a hit as both students and teachers from all three grade levels went head-to-head in silly game-show-styled competitions This year, we went full pop culture as we played "Guess the Celebrity" and "Finish the Lyric". This led to much laughter, some sing-a-longs, and plenty of cringing! Thanks to all those who participated!
On Friday, February 14th (Valentine's Day!) we held our grade-level championships and our famous students vs. staff games. Congrats to our winning teams: Rod Wave Elite, Twin Towers, Jelly Farm, and B-Team Bandits.Â
We once again held our annual Minute to Win It assemblies on the day before December break! Both students and staff were able to participate in silly, fast-paced games to spread some holiday cheer and celebrate all of our hard work before the break!
StuCo once again held one of our now *famous* Restock and Trinket sales! Students and staff were able to make donations to StuCo by purchasing a wide variety of items including school supplies, art supplies, notebooks, fidgets, bookmarks, and many handmade items as well! StuCo was able to raise over $500 for our club, and this money will go towards creating fun new events and initiatives!
Thanks to all those who got into the Halloween spirit by dressing up and making our day more fun and interesting. Both staff and students alike showed some serious creativity in their costumes, and this wonderful tradition continues to bring smiles to our faces year after year!
After a week of intense voting, SMS narrowed down 64 famous candies in our March Madness style bracket. After over one thousand total votes, we have determined our most favorite candy of them all - Twix! Be sure to check out the final bracket to see how all of your favorite candies did!
Thanks to One Up Games and all those who attended our 5th annual Gaming Day! We had almost 100 students spend time in the cafeteria after school on Monday, October 21st to play video games, card and board games, oversized games, and just hang out and have fun!
Be on the lookout for our Video Game Tournament in January, which is a competitive way to play video games with friends (with prizes on the line for the winners!)
On Thursday, June 6th, 2024 the sixth graders at SMS experienced their first (and very own) grade-level celebration! Like the 7th & 8th grade, they enjoyed a professional DJ (this time from Siagel Productions, who facilitated dance games, gave out prizes, and played some fan-favorite music!) We also once again had One Up Games provide gaming stations and mini golf, and StuCo provided snacks like fresh popcorn and desserts, and a game room as a chill space to hang out and play games with friends.
With almost 200 attendees, this event proved to be a fantastic way for the sixth graders to celebrate their first year at Sharon Middle School!
On May 24th, 2024, the seventh and eighth grade students had their end-of-year celebration, and it was amazing! This is typically considered a "school dance", but it was so much more! The Sharon High School Radio Club served as our DJ for the evening, and so many students had fun singing and dancing to some of their favorite songs. We had a game room, which served as a chill space to play board and card games, we had snacks like fresh popcorn, and One Up Games, one of our favorite companies, provided video gaming stations and a 9-hole mini golf course! This event was a wonderful way for many of our students to celebrate all their hard work this year, and it served as an amazing fundraiser for StuCo!
Thanks to all those who participated in our first ever Uno Tournament! Each player was able to play three games in our preliminary round, and then the winners entered into a mini-tourney to determine our top winners (and they got to use our giant, oversized, ridiculous Uno cards! The winners were:

Third Place - Sriram Kethineni
On the Friday before April Vacation, SMS once again gathered in the auditorium for three separate grade-level assemblies to play famous game shows like The Price is Right and Are You Smarter Than.Â
Students battled teachers in grade-level trivia and price guessing in fast-paced, fun games that allowed for audience interaction, lots of laughs, and a great opportunity to have some fun to celebrate all the hard work we accomplished up until this point.
Our annual basketball tournament was once again a huge success! Students from sixth, seventh, and eighth grade squared off during two days of two-on-two, three-on-three, and even four-on-four basketball competition. During these preliminary days, each team played in three "table round" games to help determine who would make it to the finals.
Then, on the Friday before February Break, the top two teams in each grade played in front of their classmates for the championship! And after the game, students got to enjoy some half court shots for prizes AND a student vs. faculty game! Thanks to all those teachers and staff who helped by playing in the faculty game and helping to coordinate for our assemblies!
Thanks to everyone who purchased a fun item, school supply, or handmade craft at our annual Restock & Trinket Sale. We had handmade mini notebooks, 3D printed figures (including the famed "Rocktopus" (an octopus with the head of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson!)), pop-it fidgets, Croc charms, post its, pencil sharpeners, and lots of water bottle stickers!
StuCo was able to raise almost $700 for our club! This money goes a long way because it helps us be able to put on fun, engaging, and inspiring events for our entire school community!Â
During the months of November and December, students had the opportunity to write notes and letters of gratitude to teachers and staff here at SMS, and the words they shared truly lifted the spirits of the many who received them. With over 300 cards written, this was our most successful letter-writing drive yet. StuCo members were excited to hand deliver these student-produced messages of thanks. Each note inspired staff to push through to the break and acknowledged all that they do in the lives of our students.
The last day before winter break was once again filled with silly and wacky games during our annual Minute to Win It Assemblies. Both students and staff competed in games like Connect 4 and Tic-Tac-Toe relays, a human version of Hungry Hungry Hippos, and even created "Snowmen" using toilet paper! It was a great way to end 2023!
SMS held its first Spirit Week of the year during the last week of October (first of November), and we saw many students and staff participate by wearing fun (and silly) outfits. As usual, teachers (and many students) dressed up for Halloween with some epic and creative costumes, and our entire school community celebrated other days like Sharon Pride Day or Pajama Day by dressing in those attires.
Our annual Gaming Day was once again a huge success as students from all three grade levels came to the cafeteria after school to enjoy gaming with friends. One Up Games, our amazing friends who provide top-notch video gaming experiences, provided a multitude of gaming stations with consoles, and StuCo also provided giant games like giant Jenga, Connect 4 and Uno, along with other classic board and tabletop games!
The 6th graders enjoyed their own end-of-the-school-year celebration on Friday, June 2nd. They enjoyed the same amenities as the 7th and 8th graders (Professional DJ from Siagel Productions, Mini Golf and Video Games from One Up Games, game room, popcorn and snacks, and lots of fun and memories!
This was a great opportunity for the 6th graders to celebrate their hard work this school year!
The 7th and 8th graders enjoyed their yearly end-of-school celebration on Friday, May 26th. There was a DJ from Siagel Productions holding a dance in the gym, a game room in the fitness room for board and card games, and One Up Games provided gaming stations and a 9-hole LED mini golf course! It was truly a fun and memorable night and a great way to celebrate all of the hard work from the school year!
As the culmination of our spring Spirit Week, we held our first Game Show assemblies since 2019! Along with our Minute-To-Win-It assembly in December and our Hoops 4 Heart assembly in February, this was a "before break" tradition in April for a few years before the pandemic, and we were thrilled to bring it back.
Students in all three grades held an assembly in the auditorium where StuCo members hosted three classic game shows: Family Feud, The Price is Right, and Are You Smarter Than? Students faced off against teachers in each game, and each assembly included lots of laughs, wacky prizes, and some great memories.

During the Valentine's season, StuCo offered students an staff an opportunity to write notes of gratitude and appreciation to thier friends and teachers. During a lunch table in February, StuCo provided cards, stickers, and even our own "delivery service" to help members of the SMS community write and send these messages of appreciation around our building.
Thanks to all those who participated in our annual Hoops 4 Heart Basketball Tournament! Our school community raised $800 for the American Heart Association by holding two days of preliminary basketball tournaments across our 3 grade levels. We then had fun, grade-level assemblies on the Friday before February Vacation to hold our championship games, watch students take some basketball shots for prizes, and then experience a staff vs. student game! Congrats to the winning teams and runner-up teams from each grade level, and thanks to all the teachers and staff who volunteered to play in our games!

This spring, we had two celebrations, one for the 6th & 7th grade combined, which will was Friday, June 3rd from 7-9:30pm, and one for the 8th graders, which was on Friday, June 10th from 7-9:30pm. These events included a professional DJ for a dance, One Up Games (a video game company for gaming stations) snacks, games, and more! It was so amazing to have our Minute to Win It Assemblies for the first time since December of 2019! Students and staff participated in wacky, fast-paced games all in the spirit of fun and teamwork. Thank you to Mrs. Kaplan and all those who volunteered to make this event a special and memorable one!

We had fun selling school supplies and fun items like stickers, hand-made crafts, cool erasers, magnets, and more! We plan on having another Restock & Trinket Sale in the spring, so be on the lookout for that!
We held our second Spirit Week of the year during the last week of school before the Winter Break from Monday, December 20th to Thursday, December 23rd. We once again had a fun theme for each day. Monday was Color Day, with the A-Teams wearing blue, the B-Teams wearing green, and the C-Teams wearing red! Tuesday was Disney-Marvel-Star Wars Day. Next was Fancy Wednesday where students and staff dressed up, and Thursday was our classic Pajama Day! You can check out the flyer here for all of the details from another great Spirit Week!
Thanks so all those who dressed up on Friday, October 29th! We had many creative costumes from both students and staff alike, and our end-of-day costume parade on Zoom was a great way to see some of the most creative ones!
The week of September 20th-September 24th was our first Spirit Week of the year! We started off the week with Color Day, then Pajama Day, Wacky Wednesday, Decades Day, and Fandom Friday! The last full week of the school year, June 7th - June 11th, will serve as our final Spirit Week of the year! Thanks to all of the students, teachers, and staff who participated in our first ever virtual Team Reunions! Students from both SHS and SMS "visited" their former middle school teachers through Zoom and had opportunities to catch up with those teachers and former classmates!

As you may know, StuCo ran a Gratitude @ SMS initiative from late November into early December. This was an opportunity for all in the SMS community to share their gratitude for each other. Specific shout outs were delivered to those people during the first week of December, yet we had many general shout outs (to the entire staff, departments, or teaching teams) that we would like to share with you now. StuCo members have created a slideshow that includes these shout outs of gratitude.
