Hello! My name is Kristen Lockman and I teach AP U.S. History and U.S. History Honors here at Viera High School. I've been teaching for sixteen years and have been at Viera since 2020. My passion for history developed from a young age while listening to stories from my grandparents and great-grandfather about their lives during the Great Depression and World War II. I try to model my teaching style after my high school APUSH teacher Mrs. Graham. Every day, every class period she was excited to teach about history despite having taught the same lesson to each period all day long. In addition, I strive to make my classes feel like mini-families who are there to encourage one another to meet their full potential, after all, the class motto is "we're all in this together." Hopefully, I meet these standards for enthusiasm and bonding more often than not as I believe enjoying what you're learning in a supportive environment greatly correlates to content and skill retention. In addition to teaching, I spent twenty years coaching soccer before recently hanging up the whistle. Soccer still remains my longest passion and you can find me cheering for Chelsea FC and the US National teams whenever they play.
