Summer Enrichment Opportunities

Each session has limited space available, you will receive a confirmation e-mail confirming your student's registration status as either Enrolled, Waitlisted, or Denied due to capacity being met. Financial Literacy
Financial Literacy teaches students to use money the right way with budgeting, goal setting, and saving.

A Summer of Sound
Four one week programs, open to incoming 4th - 6th graders. Each week, the same concepts/instruments will be taught, but the musical content will differ so students can do whatever weeks they want and still have different experiences. The week will include:
Guitar instruction, Ukelele Instruction, Percussion ensembles, Garage Band Composition, Bucket Ball Movement, and more! There will be a short, structured recess during the day as well as breakfast, lunch and transportation.

Readers Theater
Beginning Readers will get practice with Phonics, Fluency, and Comprehension while reading and acting out Fables. We will read a variety of short Fables and make puppets for retelling - all while focusing on reading skills.

Summer Shark Tank
Calling all entrepreneurs! Are you looking for a fun and engaging activity this summer? Would you like to learn how to create, promote, budget, and profit from having your own business? Then I have the summer program for you! This summer we are offering a 1 week session where students participate in a "Shark Tank" like competition. Students will work together to create a product people or businesses want or need. Students will research the cost to make their product, learn how to promote their product, and create a pitch to get investors interested in buying their product. Students will learn to collaborate with their peers and other important life skills to prepare them for the work place. If this is something you are interested in, please consider joining us for this fun packed 1 week session!

Environmental Science Camp
Get ready to get your hands dirty as we explore the world around us through hands-on activities! We'll explore science in our own backyards, alternate sources of energy, and so much more!

Fine Arts Camp
Teaching students the intricate strategies of painting, drawing, and mixed media. Students will use canvas board, plaster mesh, acrylic paints, and more. They will create a collage, a mask, a puppet, a sculpture, and other pieces of artwork. They learn about basic art history, famous artists, and art techniques through video tutorials/ how-to videos. They will be exposed to famous pieces of art that they will use for an inspirational piece of their own. It will be a great camp for a future artist!

Volleyball & Basketball Camp
No matter your skill level, Brevard Public Schools offer a Coed volleyball and basketball camp for sessions 2 and 3. This program is designed to help students build and develop fundamentals of the game of volleyball and basketball. Keep in mind that both volleyball and basketball are physical sports. This requires students to run, jump, and perform other gross motor skills. Sneakers are required. In volleyball students will learn the history of the game along with passing, setting, serving, spiking, and blocking. In basketball students will learn the origin of the game in part with the physical aspect which will include playing offense/defense, passing, dribbling, shooting and rebounding. These sporting activities teach a very important lesson in life, teamwork. Just like in the classroom, it is important to pay attention to what is being taught because the person who is paying attention is the person who will practice it the right way. Please note, session 2 will focus on volleyball and session 3 will focus on basketball.

ArtVentures: Exploring Creativity Across Mediums
ArtVentures: Exploring Creativity Across Mediums is a vibrant and dynamic enrichment class tailored for aspiring artists eager to explore a variety of creative mediums. Over the course of the program, participants will delve into an array of artistic expressions, including painting, drawing, wood-burning, printmaking, and more. Through hands-on experimentation and guided instruction, students will unlock their creativity, discovering the unique possibilities each medium offers. Whether a novice or seasoned artist, this enriching experience promises to inspire, challenge, and ignite a lifelong passion for the arts. Join us on this journey of self-expression and artistic discovery!

Reader's Theater Summer Rocket
Reader's Theater Summer Rocket is an enrichment program to help young children develop oral reading fluency in a creative and innovative way. Students will be given the opportunity to build on their oral language development. they will be given the stage in small groups to express themselves through reading age-appropriate materials. This enrichment program will be helping children from age five to eight years old to practice reading aloud which will build on their ability to read fluently and develop the skill of teamwork and collaboration. These students' communication skills will be fostered when expressing their feelings about the script performed. Reader's Theater Summer Rocket will boost all the students that participate in this program to develop self confidence in public speaking and presentation skills. It will also have students engaged in reading in an enjoyable way. I aim to have students finding a passion for reading like they never had before.

Summer Chorus and Orff Performance!
Join Mr. Ross and Ms. Massey in a two week extravaganza in music making, ending in a breezy and beautiful concert at Sand Point Park! We will be preparing popular chorus music and Orff pieces. We will dive into singing and instrument playing, having fun along the way! Please come join us!

Students will also create multiple craft projects that require the use of fine motor skills such as: threading beads, cutting, using tweezers, finger painting, and using play-doh. All of these activities will focus around a beloved book character- Cat In The Hat! I hope to have your child join me and my class for a week of Summer FUN!

Cultural Culinary Connected to Literacy
Students will have an opportunity to improve oral reading fluency and deepen comprehension utilizing Reader's theatre. Students will also have an opportunity to connect their reading with drama, art, crafts, and cooking. Students will read a series of books and vote on one that they would like to act out each week. Students will create backgrounds for the play and design costumes. Students will research the culture of the play and create a menu from that country. Students will prepare the meal and enjoy to celebrate Reader's Theatre.

Introduction to Volleyball
This program is designed for 6th-8th grade students who want to learn to play volleyball. Participants will take part in various activities that will help them develop the skills & techniques for the sport. In addition, rules & officiating skills will be introduced in a variety of game situations.

Curious About Coding? Code Your Own Game with Scratch!
Have fun and learn how to code with Scratch! Scratch is an easy to learn visual coding language that teaches fundamental programming concepts, logical thinking, problem-solving, and a new platform to express creativity! This is an introductory session for students with little or no experience with Scratch. During this session, students will gain a beginning understanding of how to use Scratch and how to code their own working game! This session is structured around student-centered learning with collaborative projects and exploration. Students will interact with their peers and the instructor to complete group activities and learn to use Scratch successfully. Students should be comfortable using a keyboard, touchscreen, and mouse to read and follow instructions.

Waves of Creativity: Beach Art Adventure!
"Waves of Creativity: Beach Art Adventure!" is an exciting summer enrichment program designed specifically for children in grades 1-3. Dive into a world of imagination and exploration as we embark on a beach-themed artistic journey. Children will have the opportunity to unleash their creativity while exploring different art techniques and mediums.
Throughout the week, students will engage in a variety of hands-on activities and crafts that celebrate the beauty and wonder of the beach. They will learn about marine life, seashells, and the vibrant colors of the ocean, all while developing their artistic skills and confidence.
"Waves of Creativity" provides a safe and supportive environment where children can express themselves freely and make new friends. Join us for a summer week filled with fun, laughter, and endless creativity at "Waves of Creativity: Beach Art Adventure!"

The Science of Sound on Recorders, Drums, and Through Stringing and Singing
Students rising in 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade can learn about the science of sound through musical recorders, drums, voice and ukulele/ guitars. They will learn about waveforms, volume and pitch as they study several instruments. Students will take a virtual field trip around the world to learn about and perform music of a variety of genres and time periods.
