In this activity you will be given $1,000,000 and you will be investing that fictitious money in individual stocks of your choice in a stock market simulation. You will track the gain/loss of your investments over the duration of the activity. The object of the activity is NOT to make money. The object of the activity is to learn the math concepts of percentage gain/loss, real-life application of positive and negative numbers, financial literacy, economics, market forces, and current events and much more!
We will be using How the Market Works for this activity.
Follow the steps below to register and join our SAES ADV MATH contest.
Click the "Create Account" button
Fill in all of the required fields.
** WRITE DOWN YOUR LOG-IN INFORMATION! YOUR TEACHERS DO NOT HAVE THIS INFORMATION - IT WILL TAKE SEVERAL DAYS TO RESET AN ACCOUNT. DO NOT FORGET OR LOSE YOUR LOG-IN INFORMATION!
Use 8 or more characters for your password with a mix of letters, numbers and symbols
It doesn't matter how much "Virtual Cash" you choose, you will have $1,000,000 in the Advanced Math activity (see below).
You MUST agree to the "Terms and Conditions", check that you are not a Robot and click the Register Button.
Click the "CONTESTS" tab and click the "JOIN CONTESTS" Button
Click "Find New Contest"
Type "Shaler"
Push "Find" button
Make sure it shows "Shaler" as the contest name
Push "JOIN" button (Green)
You may have to refresh the page or log out and log back in to make sure that it appears.
Now you can make your first stock purchase and after that buy and sell as you wish for the duration of the contest.
MAKE SURE you are in the "Shaler" contest (it should be appear in the "Select Contest" window.

**NOTE** You can NOT "SHORT SELL" or "COVER" in this activity.
The chart below lists some common companies and their stock symbols. (You are NOT limited to these stocks!)
Once you have bought some stocks, you can keep track of your portfolio and your RANKINGS in the SAES ADV MATH contest.
