Camps are based on the grade the student is currently in. Camps will be filled with SCSD students and Southgate residents attending parocial schools in Southgate first.
Free summer programming is provided this week from 8:00 to 4:00. Check in and breakfast begin at 8:00. North Pointe Camps run from 8:30-1:30 for current GSRP - current 3rd Grade. Davidson Middle School Camps for current 4th Graders - current 8th Graders run from 8:45 - 1:45. In addition, all campers are encouraged to take part in our Exploration Stations immediately after camp until 3:30 each day. This is an extra opportunity where we amplify students' strengths through high interest activities including STEM, art, music, sports, and special visitors. You will be given a choice to sign up for Exploration Station during registration. Pick-up is from 3:30- 4:00.
Before and After Care Latchkey at North Pointe is availble for a small fee and you can indicate this during registration. If you are attending camps at Davidson and wish to attend latchkey, you will be transported by Southgate School bus to and from North Pointe. If you are interested in full day latchkey during the weeks when camp is not in session, registration is available on the district website or contact April Roberts - robertsa1@sgate.k12.mi.us.
Meet Up and Eat Up will provide breakfast and lunch each day. Students can start receiving breakfast at 8:00am.
Nutty Scientist Lit Lab GSRP is a hands-on summer program from Wayne RESA designed to make learning fun! Students will strengthen grade-level math and literacy skills while exploring STEAM and SEL concepts in camp style experiences. This 5-week program is perfect for students who want to prevent the “summer slide” while strengthening important skills. You must sign up for all 5 weeks of Nutty Scientist Lit Lab. Campers must be currently enrolled in SCSD GSRP and class is capped at 18.

Space Explorers Camp is out-of-this-world! Young astronauts will blast off into learning as they explore planets, stars, and the mysteries of space through stories, crafts, games, and hands-on activities. Campers will use their imaginations to travel across the galaxy. Get ready for a fun-filled mission of discovery among the stars!
Each day, campers will explore a new story through read-alouds, imaginative play, crafts, and fun activities inspired by beloved characters and magical worlds. Children will build creativity, early literacy skills, and a love of reading while acting out stories, creating art, and going on playful “adventures” with friends. Storybook Adventures is a joyful place where young readers can discover that every book is a doorway to a new adventure! This camp is offered week 1 and 2 so please choose only 1 week.
Young Engineers Camp is an engaging enrichment experience where your child will learn and apply math, STEM, and science through fun, hands-on, engineering activities. Campers will learn basic coding, robotics, and engineering concepts throughout the week. This camp is offered week 1, 3, and 5. Please choose only 1 week.
Create and Play is a hands-on camp focused on painting, music, dance, and dramatic play. Students rotate through creative stations and end the week with a mini art show or performance to showcase their talents.

Exotic Animal Camp takes campers on a wild adventure around the world! Campers will discover amazing animals from rainforests, deserts, jungles, and oceans while learning fun facts about how these creatures live, eat, and survive in their habitats. Through hands-on activities, crafts, games, and animal-themed challenges, students will explore everything from colorful parrots to slithering snakes and powerful big cats. Exotic Animal Camp is the perfect place for curious kids who love animals and want to become true wildlife explorers! This camp is offered week 1 and week 3 so please choose only 1 week.
At Under the Sea Adventure Camp, students will dive into hands-on ocean exploration. Campers will investigate marine life, ocean zones, and habitats through fun science experiments, engineering challenges, and creative building projects. They will read about sea animals, write in ocean explorer journals, and create stories or reports about their discoveries. They will solve real-world problems like designing boats that float or planning an aquarium layout. Each day will blend active discovery, teamwork, and imaginative learning as students explore the wonders of the ocean. This camp is offered week 1 and week 4 so please choose only 1 week.
Get ready for a week of wiggly, giggly fun at Creepy Crawly Camp! Campers will explore the amazing world of bugs and other tiny creatures through hands-on activities, outdoor adventures, crafts, and games. Campers will hunt for insects, learn cool facts about spiders and worms, and create their own creepy-crawly art. It’s the perfect mix of science, creativity, and outdoor exploration—no bug experience required, just curiosity and a sense of adventure!
3, 2, 1, Blast Off Space Explorers! Campers will explore the idea of space and space exploration through read alouds, songs, videos, games and crafts. . We will learn about famous astronauts like Neil Armstrong, Mae Jemison, and Ellen Ochoa and their work among the Cosmos!
Get ready to explore the tiny world of insects at Bug Camp! This fun and hands-on camp lets curious kids discover amazing bugs up close. Campers will search for insects outdoors, learn how bugs live and help the environment, and create cool bug-themed crafts and experiments. Every day is an adventure filled with discovery, science, and fun. Perfect for explorers who love nature and aren’t afraid to get a little buggy!
¡Bienvenidos al campamento! We will learn a little about the Spanish language and culture, including dances, crafts, games, and food from different Spanish-speaking countries. Kids will learn dances, make mini pinatas and guacamole, play Mexican Bingo, learn simple conversational phrases, and go on scavenger hunts. ¡Nos divertiremos mucho! This camp runs week 1 and 5 so please choose only 1 week.
Students will engage in half day music and half day art to learn about the elements of hip hop: Rapping, Djaying, Break Dancing, and Graffiti. Each day of the week we will explore a new element of hip-hop and work towards 1 piece of music as well as 2 pieces of art following the styles of DJ Kool Herc and Jean-Michel Basquiat.
The Magic of Storytelling is a creative summer camp where students become real authors by planning, writing, and publishing their own original books. Students will explore storytelling through fun mini-lessons, mentor texts, and hands-on writing activities that spark imagination and confidence. To keep excitement high, students will brainstorm ideas, design characters and covers, collaborate with peers, and share their work through author circles and a final “book showcase.” By the end of camp, every student will leave proud of a finished book and excited about their growth as a writer.
Students will have abundant opportunities and access to explore/learn how to play keyboards, drums (acoustic/electric), guitars (acoustic/electric), bass guitars, Digital DJ turntables for scratching/mixing, and a variety of other instruments such as the cajon, ukulele, spoons, and even a keytar. If students own their own instrument (brass, woodwind, guitar, keyboard, etc.) they are welcome to bring that along to add to our musical fusion. Students are encouraged to either compose their own music or learn songs from other artists. Help and guidance will be provided from not only the instructors, but students will also have access to music education tools provided on chromebooks. As funding for the Summer discovery program, math and literacy skills will be taught each day such as study of different music composers, genres, and composition elements.
