Next is a recording of Gyorgy Ligeti's Six Bagatelles for woodwind quintet. A bagatelle is defined as a short, simple piece of music.

You may notice that not all of the instruments are actually woodwind instruments. In addition to the flute (and piccolo) oboe, clarinet, and bassoon, there is a French horn. These days, however, most people just call it the horn.

I've heard it said that this particular configuration of instruments came about because it approximates the sound of the woodwind and brass sections of the symphony orchestra.
