Credit Recovery Information

Credit Recovery

SFUSD provides Credit Recovery options to all students who have failed a class at their school. Remediation of a D grade is possible, but is based on capacity. Not all courses are offered. For example, there is no Credit Recovery option for AP and Honors courses.

Our Counseling Department evaluates each students' transcript each semester, and is aware of students who need to recover credits to meet graduation requirements. Due to capacity, SFUSD has given priority to 12th Grade students, then 11th, then 10th, and lastly 9th. Once SFUSD's Office of Extended Learning provides counselors the information for Credit Recovery options, we meet with and enroll students to appropriate Credit Recovery course(s).

As of now, students can attend Evening/Night School during the Fall and Spring semester, as well as Summer School. For Fall and Spring Evening/Night School, each course is a semester long course that meets after-school twice a week, either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday. There are also some courses offered during Saturday morning (8:00am-1:00pm). These courses are not offered at George Washington HS, but other SFUSD High School campuses.

Summer School is a five week long course that begins at 8:00am-10:30am or 11:00am-1:30pm.
