A Bit About Us

SEWREC is a local charity that now has twenty-seven years' experience of working to challenge discrimination, promote equality of opportunity and promote good relations between people from different backgrounds in Wales.

SEWREC was first registered as a charity in January 1991 as the South East Wales Racial Equality Council. Since then the remit has expanded to cover all nine of the protected characteristics of the Equality Act 2010 and use (or not) of the Welsh language. We also do a great deal of work to challenge poverty and because much of our work is delivered in partnership some of our projects extend well beyond our traditional Gwent base.
