Family and consumer sciences is part of the total continuum in occupational education. Students enrolled in these courses will be able to use the process skills of decision-making, problem solving and management, and learn to apply them to daily living skills and career choices.
Family and Consumer Sciences 7 (FACS 7)
FACS 7 is a one semester course designed to help students build practical skills for everyday life. Through hands-on activities, labs, digital resources, and class discussions, students learn to make responsible decisions, solve problems, manage resources, and work collaboratively. Topics include communication, wellness, basic food preparation, relationships, money management, and consumer skills, all aimed at fostering confidence, independence, and positive habits. Using a project-based approach, students also develop the competencies of the Portrait of a Graduate: adaptability, communication, critical thinking, empathy, and perseverance, preparing them for success in school, life, and future careers.
