Counseling Services

Welcome to Counseling Services!

The mission of Seton Hill University Counseling Services is to provide quality mental health services and promote the overall well-being of SHU's diverse student body.  Counselors strive to uphold strict confidentiality and the clinical and ethical standards of their professions.  The Counseling Center staff  welcomes, values, respects, and supports students of all backgrounds, cultures, and identities.

Counselors are available to assist students in developing an understanding of themselves, their environment, and their potential.  Individual and group services are provided to students who are making personal, academic, social, or career decisions.

All on-campus counseling services are provided at no cost to the student and can be provided in-person or virtually (as long as the student is within the state of PA).

Curious about confidentiality?

Students are assured of complete confidentiality in their consultations.  No information is released to university personnel, outside agencies, or individuals without the student’s explicit written authorization in advance or court order.  If, however, in the opinion of the counselor, there is a clear and immediate threat to the life or welfare of the student, to other students, or to the community, appropriate preventive actions are taken.
