Programs
Poetry Out Loud - Love Poetry? Love the Stage? Poetry Out Loud is the program for you - a national recitation contest involving millions of students across the nation. Each Fall, Selah High School competes and sends students to the regional competition for this event. Talk to your English teacher and check out the website for more information.
National Novel Writing Month - Ever wanted to write that novel? NaNoWriMo is your center for how and when to get a novel produced quickly. Join in with a great community of writers, including an active Young Writers Program.
Write Out - The Write Out program is all about writing outside, in nature. Grow some creativity with the prompts from this program - or join in to their live events in October.
Teenink - An opportunity to get published beyond Wattpad, Teen Ink is a magazine and webpage that accepts and published teen fiction, poetry, and art. They have great resources as well for contests, summer writing programs, and outside opportunities.
12 Short Stories - Can you write 12 short stories in 12 months? How about poems? This annual program gives you a chance to try and push your writing chops with strict deadlines for creating and submitting around a variety of prompts.
NATURE’S STORYTELLERS WRITING CONTEST - A writing contest sponsored by the Cowiche Canyon Conservancy. Both Prose and poetry accepted. Usually announced in December and due in February.
