Letter: Underlying health issues are not an excuse for Anti-maskers.
November 30th, 2020
To the editor — Wearing a mask should not be a problem. Over these past few months I have seen many people in public areas not wearing a mask. It has brought me to utter confusion as to why. Many of those people also known to be Anti- maskers have claimed to have underlying health conditions or breathing problems. Those ideas have been debunked due to recent studies done by Dr. Megan Hall. Dr. Hall wore 4 different masks for 5 minutes each while testing her oxygen and heart rate levels. There was no significant change. So I ask myself, what other excuses do Anti-maskers have so they don’t have to wear a mask?
If you really do have an underlying health condition that absolutely stops you from using a mask. Simply, do not go out. Keep yourself and others safe. Ask you friends, family, or neighbors to help you with groceries or other necessities. We cannot afford to go into another lock down. It is not fair to those who are doing their job by masking up, staying home, and social distancing. Many people have lost their jobs and need money. We can only do this as a community. We cannot let these simple tasks come between us. So please, help your neighbors, family, friends, and your elders and mask up.
