Body is a curious entity to me.
I like to get in touch with my body and move/dance from within, following the cues and impulse from
my body as well as responding to the environment I am in.
It allows me to exist here and now, express myself, reflect, explore, and deepen my understandings.
By listening to our bodies and letting them speak, we can encounter our truth.
The universality of the fact that we all have bodies also connects us beyond our perceived differences and what language can convey.
When Covid came to nipaluna/Hobart, I thought about what I could do under the unique circumstance. This prompted me to share my “movement response” videos to public as a way of maintaining my own practice as a dance movement psychotherapist and a dance artist and conveying that movement/dance is everywhere and for everyone. Overtime it became something like my movement diary.

Two chairs face towards an old fashioned television screen, there are two woven ethnic rugs in red/crimson tones with patterning, covering the floor with three soft square cushions on top of the rugs. There is a tall standing lamp that curves overhead of the viewer creating a soft down light. The television is showing the artist, Eri, in various forms of movement often focussing on her feet. There is a sign below the TV set that reads ‘Please take off your shoes’ which is lit by warm fairy lights. The viewer is invited to sit down on either the chair, rugs or cushion to view the work. The space is enclosed by a sheer black curtain creating an intimate safe space.
