My contribution to The STARE came about through observation, conversation and collaboration with the other artists. I listened to the artists and talked to them to build an understanding what they wanted to share. Through this process we collaborated on the projected light and visual displays.
The soundscape was a response to the dark somewhat claustrophobic atmosphere of the space. My intent was to transform the space and create a sense of lightness and openness by bringing the outside in. I attempted to do this through blending field recordings of natural environments, experimental audio processing and whimsical, mysterious musical elements into an evolving soundscape. By linking underlying themes explored by the other artists the soundscape creates a sense of connection and cohesion in the space.
Essentially what I want to share of myself through The Stare is the results of the behind the scenes observations, conversations and collaborations that I have with the artists and spaces. My portrait is from the other side of the camera…
