Hi, I’m Aidan. I love to dance. I have been dancing and performing with Second Echo Ensemble for a decade. The strength and power I feel when I’m dancing gives me a sense of freedom. It is a way for me to help you understand me better. I want to help people to be happy and feel like I can do that through my dancing. Come into my tardis. Be in my world.
Aidan has been involved with SEE since joining in 2011. He has appeared in Branch Book Bench, Rite of Spring, Contested Land, Outside Boy, The Beauty Project and On Display Global. Aidan’s visual art works have been included in exhibitions across Tasmania and as part of the City of Hobart Signal Box Project. Aidan accompanied the SEE tour to the Tempo Dance Festival in New Zealand, and the Tasmanian tour of Outside Boy and the Beauty Project. Aidan will be assistant choreographer for Relâche - The Last Dance on Earth in 2025 and can’t wait for you to see his moves.
A circular clock is suspended from the ceiling against one of the wooden pillars on the left hand side. There is a projection onto the back sandstone wall of large white spirals against a contrasting black background which spins in a clockwise direction creating an optical illusion. In front of the projection is an open wooden box facing the viewer. The artist Aidan is projected inside the box wearing a dark suit with white shirt and tie. The video is in sepia tones creating an older era, with Aidan creating gestural poses. The wooden box sits atop a black plinth, there is a black and white cow hide on the floor with a black fluffy circular cushion inviting the viewer to sit.
