Friend For Life
How great is it having good friends and positive people in your life?
Part of the Resilience Revolution is the Friend for Life project.
In July 2022 there were almost 600 children who were looked after by Blackpool Council.
These are “Our Children” and the Friend for Life project is aimed at them.
Our Children can be part of our brave and innovative Friend for Life project.
The young people will be matched with a trained, safe and secure volunteer to be their adult friend with whom they can develop a positive, nurturing friendship that will last for life.
Together they will have fun, go on adventures, offer each other advice and support but most of all genuinely care for each other, on the good days and the not so good days.
Young People
If you are one of Our Children and would like a Friend for Life it’s simple. You could talk to your Social Worker, Foster Carer or Teacher about it or you could give us a call.
We will meet up and get to know you, the sort of things you like to do and anything you don’t like.
We will then look at our volunteers and pick a few that we think might be a good match for you, then the exciting bit. You get to watch some VLOGS of the volunteers, talking about themselves and the things they like to do. And then you pick! You look at the VLOGS, think about the people, decide which one gets to be your Friend for Life
We will come with you when you first meet, this usually involves cake or some other delicious food. Once you both feel happy, with the help of your foster carers you can start to plan your own activities and have fun building a great friendship.
Volunteers
“Talk to old people they know cool stuff. Talk to young people they know cool stuff."
If you are aged 18 – 118 and are looking for an exciting volunteering opportunity that benefits for the wellbeing of everyone involved, then the Friend for Life project could be for you.
We offer training and support for you to become a Friend for Life and then you will be matched with one of our young people to have fun and develop a strong friendship. Have a look at our recruitment flowchart to find out more about the process.
Come along to one of our information evenings to find out more. We can answer any questions you have. Here are some things that people have said about our information evenings:
