Our 4th annual Careers Fair took place on Monday 19th January 2026. Each year group had the chance to access the event during the school day, and on the evening our doors were open to all current students, ex-students, parents / carers and members of the community. We were delighted to welcome over 50 exhibitors represented from employment sectors to further & higher education institutions. We believe the event was a huge success and were delighted to receive such positive responses from both the students, staff and exhibitors on their experiences at our Careers Fair. This is a key event in our careers programme where students from Years 7-11 can benefit from positive encounters with a range of post-16 opportunities. Thank you to all who took part.
Our PSHE lesson 1 took place with all year groups to build on their understanding of the Labour Market and growth sectors. The lesson helped prepare students to think about the different job roles that exist within each of the organisations at our careers fair.
PSHE lesson 2 had a focus on 'career roles and our expectations'. It included gender stereotypes, the changing landscape of job roles that exist, disappeared and not yet created, and importantly looking at our communication skills and how to use them effectively when meeting employers/providers.
Seaham High School Careers Fair 2026
The Seaham High School Careers Fair 2026 gives every student in Years 7–11 the opportunity to connect with further and higher education providers, training organisations, and employers. It’s a chance to explore the wide range of pathways available when preparing for life after school.
Preparing for the future starts early. From Year 7 onwards, students begin developing the personal skills and awareness needed for adult life. This event introduces them to the world of education and employment, helping to spark interests and build essential skills such as communication, networking, and research.
In Year 9, students begin making important decisions about their GCSE options. The Careers Fair supports this by helping them understand how different subjects can link to future career paths.
By Years 10 and 11, students are focusing on their next steps after school. This includes considering further education, training, or employment, making this event a key part of their decision-making journey.
A wide range of organisations are represented in the Sports Hall, and students are encouraged to speak to a variety of exhibitors, including colleges, universities, training providers, and employers.
Students are asked to select at least four organisations to engage with in more depth, recording their findings in their workbooks. This includes reflecting on job roles, entry routes, qualifications, salaries, and the work each organisation does, along with any other insights they find valuable.
