LCC Beginning Guitar

This class is meant to offer students the opportunity to learn about the guitar through the study of various techniques and music reading skills.  The students will learn new skills such as finger picking and strumming as well as chords and scales through group lessons in the class.  These students will also perform in groups at school concerts twice a year and play in front of the class multiple times a semester to help the students grow as performers.  Every student will get ample time to practice their guitar during the class after the course's primary instruction.  Students will work in large and small groups on song assignments and will be tested and graded by individual effort.  The end result for this class is that the student has the knowledge needed to learn music on their own.  They can read music written in tablature, standard notation, lead sheets with chords and even have the basics to learn songs they can find on YouTube.
