TUTORING WITHIN THE RESIDENTIAL STAR CENTERS

WHAT IS A STAR CENTER ASSISTANT PROGRAM

The STAR Center Assistant (SCA) program is designed to assist first and second-year residential students to successfully transition to San Diego State University.

STAR Center Hours of Operation

FIRST-YEAR COMMUNITIES

Monday - Thursday: 

1:00 PM - 10:00 PM 

Sunday: 

4:00 PM - 10:00 PM


SECOND-YEAR COMMUNITIES / TRAVELING STAR CENTERS

Monday - Thursday: 

2:00 - 7:00 PM 

Compensation:

$16.50/hr

**rates may change on a semester basis.  

This position requires a minimum of 6 hours per week and a maximum of 20 hours per week.

WHAT IS A STAR CENTER TUTOR

STAR Center Tutors are San Diego State University currently enrolled students with sophomore standing and above who offer tutoring services in the Residential Education Office STAR centers. The STAR centers are academic resources labs in the residence halls that provide academic advising and tutoring for residential students. All Tutors must maintain a 3.5 SDSU GPA or above and must have passed the courses they will tutor with a Grade of A. Tutors will be compensated $16.50/hr and will work shifts in various STAR centers in all residential areas. Tutors can work between 6 and 20 hours per week. If a tutor has another job on-campus, they can only work 20 hours total for all on-campus positions
