WorkSafeBC is the government agency responsible for workplace safety, from training to rules and regulations, and from accident investigations to Employment Insurance. There is a ton of useful information about Young Workers, including your Rights and Responsibilities as an employee.
This video was created in partnership between WorksafeBC and the special effects team from the TV show "The X-Files". Some parts may contain coarse language and graphic depictions of injuries, and may be disturbing to some viewers. This video documents four real stories of young people who were injured on the job in BC.
Which story hits closest to home? How could these injuries have been prevented?
These videos are summaries of accidents and the investigations that followed. They are useful in learning about how to avoid accidents and understanding what happens when a person is injured on the job. Watch at least three of these videos.

Staying safe at work can be hard if you have to stand up to your supervisor. It is important to know what your rights are, but with rights comes much responsibility. Familiarize yourself with your rights and responsibilities (and those of your employer) by clicking the link above.

What pressures existed to do dangerous work? How can we, as young adults, use our knowledge of workplace safety to keep our younger brothers, sisters, cousins, neighbours and friends safe? Please complete the PSA assignment below and upload to your website.
