With this being the first year of girls wrestling, I wanted this page to stand out. When I saw this dominant photo, I knew I wanted to make it huge and black and white. I saw above the heads of the wrestler and the official, a perfect place for the headline to interact. I drew a black border around three of the four corners because I wanted white to appear on the right side. The black border allowed me to put captions for a small photo package. Then, I decided to place the main copy on a red box over the official, but having Isabella staring down leading you into reading the copy.  We decided with main copies to have a drop cap that led readers into the copy.  I placed the pull-out quote in the top left corner so I could have the red quotation mark overlap with the black border.
