A Student's Growth

A Student's Growth

By: Edvin M.

The fluorescent bulb whirs in the distance

Scribbling down the last sentence on the paper

Hurrying as the time ticks by

Wondering if it’s really worth it

The time spent versus the healthy mindset

Shouldn’t have to be a risky decision

The same monotonous schedule

Puts an end to anything enjoyable

All embellishment replaced with stress

Gives a moral more to worry

As nothing but grades are seemed to be an importance

While I hide my pain

My anger goes insane

There has to be more to life than to just get good grades

But is there another opportunity if all that is there for a student is to get good grades

No clubs, sports, or trips if your grade isn’t set up to standard

No way to understand if your life is lackluster

There is no medium to life, so what's the point of finding the control in the strife

Looking at the analog clock,

Seeing the tedious time hit five

Wanting the year to go by

Just for the same thing to happen again

Isn’t a style I like

So why even try

Oh I know why

Some day in the far future

My sinuous pathway will have an abridged turn

Which then splits into multiple crossways

And when that one way sticks out

It’ll then be my time to start to enjoy life
