The onion belongs to the family of liliaceae. The root system is constituted by numerous roots (generally in the first 20-25 cm of soil). At the germination a small leaf coming out of the ground in a ring-shaped form raises and takes on the appearance of a whip.
The winter onions are introduced to be planted in autumn (between September and October) and foil in the field, spring onions instead are planted from February to March, for the summer harvest.

The onions can be included in the vegetable group; it contains uninteresting levels of vitamin C and carotenoids. Moreover, compared to other vegetables, it does not shine due to its total fiber content. The onion contains a lot of water and has a small amount of fructose, sugar that not only makes it a bit sweet, but also gives it a soft energy function. Poroteins and lipids are irrelavant; cholesterol is absent.
Onions jam
It is generally prepared with red onions and is accompanied by very tasty and slightly spicy cheeses. Cut the onions and cook them in a pot with brown sugar. For one kg of onions you will need 200 gr of sugar. Then add the aromas (such as cloves, bay leaves and a few tablespoons of wine vinegar) and cook until you reach the exact consistency.
