Byron P. Steele II High School Fall 2019, Volume 2, Issue 2

School is now in full swing, and it is hard to believe we are already halfway through the first semester. This is a very busy time of year and things are really gearing up.

We have now completed the 1st nine weeks. Parents and students need to be in charge of monitoring grades. If you have not set up a TxConnect account, please make sure you do that soon. Did you know that your child can set up their own account separate from yours to monitor their grades? You can set alerts on your account to be notified of grades received that are below your expectations. As we start the second grading period, this is a great tool to use so that no one is caught off guard when report cards come out and the semester ends. We want all students to earn credits in every class! Monitoring these items can assist students in making sure there are no “missing” assignments, and assist them in taking advantage of test corrections or retests on test grades below 70.

SENIORS, as you start receiving acceptance letters from the colleges or universities of your choice, please bring us your acceptance letters. We love to brag on all of our students, so let us know when you get those letters so that we can get the pennants up and tweet about how awesome our students are.

STAY CONNECTED. As always, counselors are available for any student, at any time, to discuss anything. Parents are also welcome and invited to contact us with any concerns regarding your child.

Throughout the year we will be presenting important information. Please watch our calendar and sign up for your student's class REMIND to receive texts from the counseling team.
