We are excited to have the second semester under way. As a reminder, report cards are available for you to access through the TX Connect account. If you have not looked at yours yet, you may want to take the opportunity to do that now. If your student did not pass one or more classes during the fall semester, counselors met with him/her individually to discuss plans for earning the credit on their transcript. Parents/Guardians should have also received a letter in the mail after we met with your student to inform you of what the student will need to do in order to reinstate those credits. Please help to encourage them to complete the plan that is in place by May so that they are able to avoid attending summer school.

PSAT results were returned to students at the end of the first semester. Students received a copy of their scores and a handout about what the results mean. If you would like more information about the results, visit our “Testing” link from the Counseling page on our school website.

All Juniors will take the SAT during the school day at Steele on Wednesday, March 4th. This is provided to our students free of charge and there is no need to register for the test. If you would like to prepare and practice prior to taking the test, check out the free practice on Khan Academy. Khan Academy has partnered with the College Board to provide practice to students which is tailored to each students needs based on results from previous College Board tests (PSAT and SAT).

Our College, Career and Military Center has some amazing things going on. On top of our numerous college and military lunch visits, Mrs. Pope is available to assist students with College applications and questions. Students can go during their lunch and/or off periods to receive help in getting applications completed. Please encourage your student to go meet and visit with Mrs. Pope in Q251, so that she can help direct them in their post graduation plans. Stop by to schedule a visit!
