This is part the school's response when a student makes a threat of violence toward another person. The objective is to determine the credibility of the threat (likelihood of being carried out) and use that information to gauge a response that will keep people safe.
"How can I receive training?" — SCRED's MTSS & School Climate Specialist trains Threat Assessment Teams (Principal(s), School Resource Officer, and support staff such as School Counselors, Social Workers, and/or Psychologists) when threat assessment procedures are initially implemented. When a new staff member joins the Threat Assessment Team, they should complete an on-demand Brightspace course.

Schools are best equipped to handle threats of violence when they have adopted an evidence-based protocol and trained a threat assessment team to understand and use that protocol.
