Vibonati
Vibonati
Vibonati is an intact medieval village, featuring stone alleys and an atmosphere from another time. At the top of the town is the Sanctuary of Saint Anthony the Abbot, built on a hill donated by a princess. The church, of Romanesque origin and Greek rite, has been restored several times over the centuries. It has three naves, an 18th-century organ, and a baptismal font crafted from an ancient capital. Above the altar is the bust of the Saint, which is carried in procession every January 17th.
It is also worth visiting the Convent of Sait Francis and the churches of Saint Lucy, Saint Lazarus, and the Most Holy Annunciation. The historic center is best explored on foot, walking through charming views and past ancient doorways.
