Scario is the largest subdivision of a municipality of San Giovanni a Piro and represents one of the main tourist destinations, thanks to its privileged position and crystal-clear sea. An integral part of the Infreschi and Masseta Protected Marine Area, its coast is dotted with historic towers and sea caves, accessible only by boat. The seafront promenade offers a pleasant walk, ideal both during the day and in the evening, with the option of staying overnight aboard a boat in the harbor for a unique experience.
From an architectural perspective, Scario is a masterpiece: the houses climb one upon the other, connected by narrow passages and steep stairways. The limestone used to create terraces, retaining walls, and paved alleys gives the village an ancient and fascinating atmosphere. Strolling through its narrow streets is like taking a step back in time, where it seems time has stood still. Scario blends harmoniously with the surrounding landscape, offering visitors an unforgettable experience.
Every summer one of the most heartfelt traditions is revived, the Palio delle Contrade, a competition between the different districts, which involves the entire community and makes the atmosphere of the village even more lively.
