Spartan Golf Club
This logo demonstrates clever use of negative space by incorporating the organisation's name into a logo with two symbols: a golfer and a spartan warrior. The most important element of the image is shape as it must satisfy both symbols at the same time (e.g the negative space created by the bent arm must appear like an eye). Other elements include the typography which is clean and professional (like golf) as well as the daffodil yellow background which relates to 'Sparta' and the Ancient Greek background.
Goodwill
The overall look of this piece comes out bold with its thick lines and spaces of black, white and blue. The iconic part of this logo is the half smile, and it cleverly resembles the 'g' in 'goodwill' which makes it fun to view. These elements arranged in a way so they have fair spacing from each other that makes the logo uniform and bold. I enjoy the unique typography of rounded rectangles with circles for negative space.
Milwaukee Brewers
A fun vintage logo of the baseball team. I first notice the yellow and blue colours - these colours are associated with themes like sport as they have a bold look. The thick yellow line plays a role of the shaping of the baseball glove which also resembles the letters 'm' and 'b' of the team. This logo comes together very well in many ways and has a smart concept - no wonder many people prefer this logo to their present one.
Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium
The simplistic black and white composition is everything about zoo animals. It showcases fantastic attention to detail as they outline the tree as they consider the negative space figures: the gorilla, tiger and fish. Not only do these animals fit around the shape of this tree, the fact that the designer used powerful, large animals suggests that the organisation is also powerful.
Eight
This logo works with all its elements in every way. The figure '8' is used in creating what resemble the letters, and so the theme here will be very prevalent to viewers. Furthermore the 'g' is shaped like the traditional 'g' with its 'loop', giving it a familiar look. Overall, the arrangement of these letters are very clean (especially how the tilt adds movement, otherwise it would boring if the design only focused on shape) and evenly spaced. As a result, these elements come together to make a clever negative space image.
