The Earthquake Experience

by Gabriella Galati (April 2024)

Recently, on April 5, 2024, there was a small earthquake during period 4 while I was in science class learning about earthquakes.

No one really knew what happened at first, but it was reported to be the first earthquake in NY in years. The earthquake had a magnitude of 4.8.

Most students, including me, thought it was fun to experience. However, it lasted only a couple of seconds. I wish it had lasted a bit longer. We learned that earthquakes happen because the Earth's plates move.

This was a surprisingly fun experience for everyone!

What is a Bearded Dragon?

by the Editors (Feb. 2024)

Meet our awesome mascot, the Bearded Dragon! Unlike fairy tale dragons, this real-life reptile has spiky fluff under its chin that puffs up when it's excited.

Originally from Australia, these dragons are calm, friendly, and love basking in the sun. They're our school's mascot because they teach us about bravery, curiosity, and being unique.

Just like each dragon has its own style, we can embrace our personalities at PS/IS 121.

Roar on with the spirit of the Bearded Dragon as we explore the exciting world of our school! 🐉📚✨
