"Goddard Riverside invests in people and strengthens community, serving more than 20,000 people a year on the Upper West Side and throughout New York City with a variety of programs for all ages. Our roots date back to the settlement house movement of the late 1800s, and we continue to be an active member of the settlement house community at the local, national and international level. As we grow and evolve to meet the needs of the community, we continually strive to partner with the people we serve and treat everyone we encounter with the dignity and respect they deserve.
Our programs support families at every stage of life. We work within a social justice framework to create a fair and just society where all people have the opportunity to make choices that lead to better lives for themselves and their families."
Volunteers at Lenox Hill Neighborhood House use their unique skills, talents and experiences to enrich our programs for thousands in need. We offer an extensive array of meaningful and rewarding volunteer positions for everyone from teens to older adults. Opportunities to volunteer are available weekdays, evenings and weekends.

"With 50 years of experience, Visiting Neighbors has been helping seniors in New York City, New York, live meaningful and active lives by matching them with one of our dedicated volunteers. Our programs and services help seniors maintain their independence by connecting them with someone who cares. Our goal is to provide a helping hand to our community's elderly, who may not have family or friends nearby.
We serve seniors who reside in Manhattan from South Ferry to 30th Street, river to river and seniors living in Forest Hills and Rego Park, Queens. Additionally, we receive calls from all over NYC and its surrounding vicinity."
"Henry Street Settlement’s mission is to open doors of opportunity for Lower East Side residents and other New Yorkers through social services, arts, and health care programs. The organization is distinguished by its commitment to listening to and learning from our neighbors—and then acting to meet the most pressing needs of our community.
To meet those needs, we offer more than 50 programs to people of all ages through our Abrons Arts Center/Visual and Performing Arts, Employment, Education, Sports & Recreation, Senior Services, Health & Wellness, and Transitional & Supportive Housing divisions. These vast programs range from preschool to Meals on Wheels delivery, job-readiness training to mental health counseling, and supportive housing to theater performances. We encourage you to visit our program pages to learn more.
In all we do, we’re guided by the blueprint left by our trailblazing founder, Lillian Wald, who believed:
Each of us is whole and worthy.
Poverty is a social issue (not an individual failing)
There is power in bridging differences.
Neighbors matter.
In times of need, act
Volunteers are an essential part of Henry Street’s fabric and have shown how our community can come together in times of need. Henry Street offers a variety of volunteer opportunities; please consider helping a neighbor, and a fellow New Yorker by signing up to volunteer with Henry Street!"
