Historic Richmondtown
Historic Richmondtown explores the wonders of the past, with many historical sites to see involving the people who lived in the 17th century and the 18th century. This was the site of the main government building until it made moved to the north shore. Many interesting historical locations are in this town including Christopher’s house which shows the divided loyalties in Staten Island between the British and the Americans during the time of the revolution. Christopher's house has secret entrances for spies. The tour guide told a tragic story involving a young girl and a soldier who died and were buried together during the American Revolution involving the Voorlezer's house. The soldier predicted that the girl would pass away from being ill and by coincidence, he passed away the same day fighting.

A general store there was run by 3 sisters who didn't marry because they knew that their possessions would be taken by their husbands if they did.
There were many government buildings in the Historic Richmond Town.
Egger's Ice Cream was originally a prop for a movie but was bought and is operational during the summer.
The first two courthouses were burnt down and the courthouse there is the 3rd courthouse built there.
During night it is rumored that you are able to experience some of the haunting events.
The parking lot used to be a huge jail but got torn down.
The general store is located in the center of the town.

A stone house that was relocated to the grounds of Historic Richmondtown. There are small spaces for spies to hide in throughout the house.

Richmondtown was established in the 1690s. They established the county government headquarters of Staten Island in 1728. The government offices of Staten Island were relocated to the town of St. George upon its incorporation into the City of New York in 1898.
